Dr. Alan Avtges is the senior member of our team. As a dental health professional, he has been practicing for over 30 years. A graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, he received further training and certification from the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education. From 1982 to 1991, he served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, specifically in Germany, Italy, and during Operation Desert Storm. He worked as director of a non-profit children’s dental clinic from the mid-80s to the early-90s. Today he enjoys traveling and occasionally performs dental missionary work in Mexico.
In addition to providing the community with a wealth of knowledge and experience, Dr. Avtges also occasionally performs public lectures and has written articles for newspapers. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and is a member of the American Dental Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Association of Functional Orthodontics, the Maine Dental Association and the Greater Portland Dental Society.
Dr. Manijeh Best received her doctorate degree in 1994. She completed her advanced education in a General Dentistry Residency program at the University Of Nebraska Medical Center. The following year, she practiced dentistry along with teaching at UNMC. Dr. Best was in private practice in Kansas City, Missouri for seven years before moving to Maine and joining our practice in 2003.
Dr. Paula Hasson joined our practice in 2008. She is a 1989 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. After owning her own dental practice in New Castle, Pennsylvania for 19 years, she relocated to Maine with her family. Dr. Hasson is also a member of the American Dental Association, The Maine Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, The Academy of Laser Dentistry and The Christian Dental Association.
