On behalf of Dr. Avtges, Dr. Best, Dr.
Hasson and staff, welcome to Foreside Dental Health
Care. Thank you for choosing us to serve your dental needs. We love what we
do and are committed to making your dental experiences pleasant and
non-threatening.
Your first visit, other than for emergencies, will be an information gathering
session. There are five main parts to our examination. On this first visit
and about every three to five years thereafter, we will take a full x-ray
survey of the teeth and bone surrounding the roots of the teeth. These
pictures are extremely important, since we are essentially "blind" to many
problems without them.
Second, we will do a "soft tissue" exam of your head and neck to check for
oral cancer as well as other abnormalities.
Third, we will evaluate your gum health carefully and monitor it closely on
subsequent visits. Since gum disease rarely causes pain until the advanced
stages, we want to advise you, as soon as possible, if we see any infections
developing.
Fourth, we will check your bite or "occlusion". Research has shown that faulty
bites can cause such diverse problems as severe headaches, accelerated
destruction of the bone structure around teeth, excessive wear of tooth
enamel, broken teeth, and broken fillings.
Last, we will examine your teeth. We will certainly check for cavities, but
we find that most problems in adults' teeth relate, not only to new decay, but
also to broken old fillings, fractured teeth, and/or problems due to missing
teeth.
When our information gathering is completed, we will review the findings with
you, make recommendations, and answer any questions you may have. Should you
so desire, we will give you a written financial estimate of any treatment that
is necessary.
If treatment is necessary, we are committed to its performance in the most
comfortable, careful and effective way possible. We frequently attend courses
to keep abreast of the constant advances in dentistry. The knowledge gained is
passed on to you in the form of better care. Yet, we want to be more than a
repair service. Our goal is long-term prevention and maintenance. Our
purpose is to provide you with the information you need to prevent future
dental problems rather than to solely treat current ones.
Together, we can plan to work towards optimum oral health for your lifetime!
